Stay Connected With This Giveaway

Update: On 10/1, my wife randomly selected the winner of the Jetpack… and it’s Tiffany C!!! Congrats!

I can admit I’m a bit of an online junkie, and I like to be connected wherever I happen to be. I’m getting ready for my 30th reunion (yes, I know that was a long time ago). Back in high school, staying connected meant I had gas money so I could get to a friend’s house or get out to do something.

Today, connected means something completely different. Back when I was in school at Carnegie-Mellon, it was cool that I could go find a dumb terminal to log in and get a note to a friend at Case Western Reserve… We didn’t even realize we were on an Internet precursor or Ty our notes were email. Now, I get 100 emails a day delivered to a device that fits in my pocket (I refuse to wear a phone on my belt!), and I expect to have contact with people all the time. In fact, the school I went to is still the most connected campus in the US, being wireless over the whole campus.

Cities are starting to offer wireless in areas, but I’m kind of a small town/rural kind of guy, and connectivity can be spotty in those areas. At least in my little part of the world, Verizon Wireless s really the only wireless carrier that gives me a solid signal. I’m not saying that because of the Savvy Gourmet program… It’s just how it is.

So, combining the fact that Verizon Wireless is doing this program letting me try out a Xyboard tablet and that they have such a great signal, the giveaway they’re doing with me is pretty slick. I’m running a contest to give away… Drumroll, please… A Jetpack!

No, this isn’t the Jetpack I was promised back in first grade that would let me fly around, but this Jetpack will let the winner fly through the interwebz. At 4G LTE speed, up to 10 devices can connect to the Internet. Pretty slick! The Jetpack includes:

  • A Verizon JetpackTM 4G LTE Mobile Hotspot MiFi® 4620L
  • $150 Verizon Wireless gift card, for equipment or service
  • A SIM card
  • The service isn’t free, but the gift card pays for over 6 months’ usage. If you’ve wanted to get a mobile hotspot, this is a great giveaway!

How do you win? It’s easy… Comment here and tell me how you’d use your Verizon JetpackTM 4G LTE Mobile Hotspot MiFi® 4620L, or tweet about how you’d use it and add the tag #lfhotspot, or like the Livefire Facebook page and comment there about how you’d use the hotspot.

I reserve the right to exclude inappropriate entries, so keep it clean! I’ll randomly select a winner on October 1.

Disclosure: I am participating in the Verizon Wireless Midwest Savvy Gourmets program and have been provided with a wireless device and six months of service in exchange for my honest opinions about the product.

    About Curt McAdams

I guess I'm a bit of a foodie, learning to cook from my mom, then getting obsessed with outdoor cooking, competition barbecue, bread baking and just about all things food. Lately, I've been trying to upgrade my photography skills a bit, though I still have a long way to go.

    1. I would love to connect 4 on my devices that I travel with!

    2. I would use as a hotspot when we go on family trips out of town, at the park/boardwalk when with the kids, my daughter can use when out of town (on plane) when travel for school related functions and my parents can use where they live since they have spotty coverage

    3. Very cool. Please count me in.

    4. I would use it to stay updated when I’m waiting in the pickup line at school!

    5. If I won, I would use the Verizon Jet Pack when I travel. It would be great to get work done on my laptop with the internet every where using this :)

    6. I would have loved to have one of these Curt!! Especially since I have verizon!!
