Bratburgers grilling

So I thought I’d come up with something. First, though, I want to be upfront and state that Johnsonville supplied me with a small cooler, an apron and free bratwurst and bratwurst burgers for this.

I thought about what to do a bit, and I think I came up with a good combo… At least I loved it! I started with 2 cheddar brat burgers (found in the frozen section of the grocery in pre-made patties). These got grilled with a bit of pecan wood smoke, along with some center cut bacon and thick slices of Vidalia onions. I also grilled the whole wheat bun, with a touch of butter on it.

After the patties were grilled to 160 F (allowing for some carry over to get to 165), I put a bit slab of Humboldt Fog cheese between the patties, and set them on a grate area with no flame underneath, and I mixed up some champagne mustard with Stonewall Kitchens Farmhouse Chutney. I originally thought of doing some kosher pickles, but I didn’t think that would go with the chutney, so I opted instead for something even better… Fab Ferments (a Cincinnati product) Red Apple and Caraway sauerkraut.

The whole thing came together pretty well, I thought. I took a bite out of the burger, and I’m pretty sure I’ve got the winner! Follow the link above to get into the contest yourself and see if you can beat my entry!
