I know this is a food blog, but I’ve talked about Bucky before. We brought him to our family on December 22, 2007, and he grew to be a great cat. Today, we had to say goodbye to him. I won’t go into the details, but we miss him very much already.

Thanks, everyone. You’re right, Nika, it does seem just like yesterday that he came home with us. We miss him a lot. I even called for him this morning, not thinking… But we did what was best for him, not us.
Yes, I know how that is. Have lost cats by them disappearing (after a huge cancer work up), one to a terrible heart condition, 4 in one day to a fisher cat and recently we lost two baby goats over two weeks (I have to be vet to them) to “bloat” and it was quite terrible.
I mourn for your loss – there are no words for the compassion I feel for you all.

Thanks… some people don’t get the animal/pet thing, which is ok. I do, though, and I can’t imagine going through all that! I know each one hurts badly.
I do know from experience that we’ll reach a point where the good memories overtake the mourning.
