It’s now 22 days until Christmas! We were going decorate the tree tonight, but we put it off until tomorrow, when we have a bit more time. I’ll be making Alton Brown’s eggnog and watching Rudolph in HD!
I am catching up on things I should have done long ago. Among them, Melissa of From Here to There and Everywhere did a very nice thing. Nancy B’s in Pittsburgh makes a cookie similar to the chocolate chip cookies I make, and are known in the area as having the best chocolate chip cookies in the world.
Melissa tried Jaay’s Best Ever recipe, and went way above the call, sending my wife and me a few cookies to try!
The cookies did indeed look similar in size, etc. The chocolate chips are a bit smaller, but not sparse at all. The cookies traveled pretty well, and weren’t stale.
The most noticeable difference was that there was peanut butter in Nancy B’s cookies. I prefer not having peanut butter in them, but they were still great cookies. Trust me, they didn’t last long!
So, I know I thanked you via email, Melissa, but I wanted to publicly say thanks for the very kind gesture! I love Pittsburgh, and one of the reasons is that the people are great; Melissa proves that once again.

Thanks for the shout out, much appreciated.
I’ve made Jaay’s CC recipe only about a billion times already (sans peanut butter) and have had rave reviews. I thought it was peanut butter, and the reason Nancy’s gave me heartburn.
Anyway, my girl who is 6, loves to cook so I’m (err Santa) is/am putting together some recipe index cards and Jaay’s will be in there.
Thanks for being so very awesome.
Haven’t checked your blog in awhile – so crazy insane behind with EVERYTHING … and
No, never sick of Rudolph! EVER!
The cookies are just hard to beat… The ones you sent were definitely good, but not in the same bracket to me.
And I’m glad to see someone else likes Rudolph! I started a new job, so my posting has waned, but I have some more I need to put up tonight.
