As of this morning, I heard from Jim Emig of Jim Dandy’s BBQ that their competition in Cincinnati is now officially sanctioned by the KCBS!!!
The comp will be on September 15 and 16, which is a Saturday/Sunday competition. Turn ins will probably start a bit early so people can get home at a decent time. I’ve read stuff on people wanting this set up, so it will be worth a try!

Great News. I am in Columbus, relocated from Geaorgia where I picked up a serious barbecue habit. I have never been to a competition and would love to see what its like.

hey guys. been doing this bbq thing now for three years and am searching for BBQ comps. here in Ohio. glad to see this one in Cincinnati and wood (would) aprecieate any information you you could give to participate in 08 and info for the comp in Dayton

The comp should be the 2nd weekend of July. There will also be a comp in Cincy the 2nd weekend of September and one in SE Ohio the 3rd weekend of October. I think the comps are going to all kind of band together to make these all that much better. We should be at all of them next year.

Big E, there are 3 in Ohio… July 18-19 in Dayton, September 13-14 in Cincy, and the third weekend in October in Nelsonville. Then there’s also Madison, IN, on the third weekend of August, and Fairbanks, IN (the west side of the state, but a great comp) the first weekend of June. Hey everyone! We just participated in our first contest this past weekend in Kettering and had a blast! I just wanted to let you know that I was on the KCBS website and they say the Cincinnati competition is 9/12-9/13, not the 15th and 16th. Which dates are right??
Ashleigh, I’m glad you enjoyed the Ohio Vet comp… We got 10th overall, and had a great time.
This post is actually from last year, so the dates would be different. In 2008, it will be the 12th and 13th, but last year it was the 15/16th.
