Thanksgiving Day brings a dilemna to many families… All that food leftover, but what do you do with it?
To be honest, my favorite thing to do with leftover turkey is to make a straightforward sandwich: white bread, turkey slices and cranberry sauce as the only condiment! But there’s still about 10 lbs of turkey left!
My wife brought home a recipe from a coworker for Buffalo Chicken Dip which we converted to a turkey recipe. It met with rave reviews, and it’s well worth considering this coming Friday when you’re looking at all that leftover Thanksgiving Day bird!
The recipe is very simple:
Preheat the oven to 350 F.
- About 1 lb leftover turkey
- 12 oz. Frank’s hot sauce (or your favorite wing sauce)
- 16 oz. cream cheese
- 1 small bottle ranch or blue cheese dressing
- 12 oz. shredded cheddar cheese

Shred the leftover turkey into a bowl and add the hot sauce. Mix
well and spread into a 13"X9" baking dish. In a saucepan, melt the
cream cheese and add the bottle of dressing. Spread this mixture over
the turkey/hot sauce.
Bake for 20 minutes at 350 F. Take the baking dish out and cover
with shredded cheese. Put the dish back in the oven and continue baking
for an additional 10 minutes. Let the dip rest for 15 minutes or so and
serve with tortilla chips.
Trust me… This is definitely worth trying with your leftover turkey!

Hey, that looks good. With an 18-pounder this year I’m sure we’ll have some leftovers. If I can wrestle a pound of them away from the family I’ll try this!
Dave, one of the good things about this is that, even if the bird is dry, just shred it up enough, and it will be very usable!
Happy Thanksgiving!
Nicole, I hope you had a great Thanksgiving! Do you do a traditional meal or go more Italian?
Curt, I’m in the states right now so I had a huge Thanksgiving meal with my family. But no matter where I am, I always eat the traditional things on Thanksgiving!
That looks fantastic! I love dips with cream cheese!
Laura
Laura, you can pretty much say I love (fill in the blank) with cream cheese.
And Nicole, welcome home! I hope you have a great visit before going back!
Well, it’s all gone by now, but my favorite way to eat leftovers is just what you said Curt – white bread, turkey and cranberry sauce. I do like to add a little mayo to mine though.
Yum!
Be honest!!! Your favorite thing to do with Thanksgiving leftovers is to dip the turkey into the mashed potatoes and gravy– cold.
Kim, that’s YOUR favorite thing to do with leftovers, nobody else’s in the family.
