4 days to go!!! Today, I hope to pick up a tent I’m borrowing so we have someplace to sleep. This is a piece of advice no one really gave me… It’s important to have all the supplies and to be organized, and you’re not going to sleep a lot, but, to me, it’s important to get some sleep, and doing it in the passenger seat of a vehicle isn’t the best way to do so.
That’s exactly how I slept the last 2 comps. This time, we’re going to
try a tent. The tent will be big enough for all 3 of us cooking; my
wife still gets her hotel room. Last year, Mark slept on a pad on the
trailer… And it got down to 40 degrees. He was covered in dew and
didn’t sleep much at all. Then in Madison, it was hot as can be, and
he slept in the back of a minivan, while I slept in the passenger seat
of his Durango, with the car fan going all night… He would have shot
me if I’d run down the battery!
So to make a long story not any shorter… The moral is to make decent arrangements for sleeping so you can get good sleep in the few hours you have to sleep.
We’re almost to the point of being ready to pack up. It’s going to be a quick week, and we’ll be competing again before we know it!
