Logos and banners

Carmel_tommy_1
When we decided to get into a competition, we had no idea what our site would be like since we’d never been to a comp before.  I did enough looking around the internet to see that there were lots of EZups and lots of banners.  So I figured we needed a logo, then a banner with said logo.

I didn’t get the logo in the best of ways…  I contacted a cheap online company.  It was supposed to cost about $70, but every time I asked for revisions, only partial revisions were made.  I had to tell them what colors, exactly, had to tell them how they might have to actually draw something by hand, and I sent them what could have been used, and I even had to send the font files to use the font I wanted to use.  It was a bit painful, but I like the result.

A bunch of people on the BBQ Forum use Hot Spot Graphics
for their logos.  The guy does a great job, but they’re all similar
looking to me.  Don’t get me wrong… great work, and there’s nothing
wrong with having a recognizable style, but it just wasn’t what I
wanted.

Hat
Ok, now I had my logo… but I have to put it on something!  I have a
friend that has an embroidery business, Cardinal Custom Embroidery.
After talking about what to do, we decided on hats and shirts
embroidered with the logo, and had the logo put on a banner.

I did a google search on vinyl banners, and I found a company called wholesalebannerz.com.
I got a 2X8 banner for $64 including postage.  The banner is done in
full color at 1200 dpi with a 3 year guarantee.  A 2X10 banner is only
$75.  Comparable companies, like Gorilla Banners, charge more like $6
per square foot, and use lower resolution (though the guarantee is 5
years instead of 3).  I just uploaded a 2X8 graphic to their ftp site,
and I had my banner in 2-3 days.  I’m about to redo the banner, and I’m
sure I’ll use wholesalebannerz.com again.  Besides, they’re a Christian
company, and I like to support Christian companies that give good
service!

This wasn’t intended as a sales blog, but if anyone is interested
in shirts or hats (as seen modeled by the loverly Mark on the right).
Hats would be $15, and shirts would be $18, both plus shipping.  Email
me at cmcadams@buckymcoinkumsbbq.com if you’re interested.
